New 35-Unit Apartment Building Proposed Near Suffolk Downs in East Boston

More development could be coming to Eastie! According to Universal Hub, a developer has filed plans to build a five-story, 35-unit apartment building at 295 Waldemar Ave., near Suffolk Downs and Route 1A.
The proposed project by MG2 Development would replace an existing car rental lot and billboard. Plans include a mix of studio, one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments, along with 18 parking spaces on the ground floor.
Six of the apartments would be designated as income-restricted housing for residents earning no more than 60% of the area median income.
The building would also be all-electric, using heat pumps for heating and cooling. The existing billboard facing Route 1A would be removed.
The project is currently in the proposal stage and under review by the Boston Planning Department.
