Zoning Board of Appeal Approves 20 New Verizon Cell Antennas

Despite some opposition from a neighbor, the Zoning Board of Appeal approved Verizon’s plans to install 20 new cell antennas in four clusters on top of an apartment building at 319-327 Chelsea St.
According to Universal Hub, the attorney for Verizon stated that this fifth antenna system in the neighborhood would help the company meet the growing demand for service in the area.
A member of the Maverick-Central Neighborhood Association spoke out at the meeting questioning the need for the antennas and asking the question when is enough enough?
The board, however, voted unanimously to approve the new antenna plan. Part of the plan of the approval was to make sure Verizon moves the antennas as far away from the edge of the building and to paint or shield them in the same color as the building to minimize their appearance.
