The trend du jour seems to be the food truck craze that’s been spreading like wild fire. From the Food Network’s Food Truck Challenge, to the number of twitter followers waiting for tweets for letting Food Truck fans know the trucks daily specials, the love of food truck’s is abundant. Maybe it’s the dismal economy that is fueling the fire and the fact you can get amazingly delicious food for cheap, but one thing is for sure – people can’t get enough of ’em!

Redbones:
Serves up some of the best BBQ around. From St. Louis ribs to pulled pork sandwiches and everything in between, Redbones portions are large and deeeeelicious. Roxy’s Grilled Cheese:
Taking the grilled cheese to the next level, this ain’t your mama’s grilled cheese. Featuring sandwiches like the Green Muenster -muenster, homemade guacamole, and applewood bacon, to the Mushroom Melt with a conifit of mushrooms, baby swiss and fresh arugala with prices starting at $5. Penny Packers:
Located right in our back yard, Penny Packers offers fresh, seasonal food with local ingredients. Their menu consists of house made sausages, unique sandwiches, and delicious soups and salads. Pennypacker’s is located on Tide St., in the Marine Industrial Park in South Boston. Right around the corner from the Boston Design Center, and the Harpoon Brewery. We are open Monday through Friday from 8am to 3pm.
Clover:
Clover makes “food you love.” Meals that you look forward to and come back for over and over again. And by the lines at the their truck at South Station, people really, really, really love Clover’s food. Priding itself upon making healthy, local, and organic food, Clover’s menu changes seasonally and serves up breakfast, lunch and dinner. Bon Me:
After winning a food truck contest sponsored by the City of Boston, Bon Me is a gourmet food truck that serves Vietnamese inspired food. They offer food that is ” fresh and laden with bright flavors and contrasting textures.” Their menu is simple consisting of sandwiches, noodle salad and rice bowls and what’s inside them is simply delicious. Go Fish:
If you like seafood, you’ll love Go Fish. Featuring local seafood favorites like chowder, lobster rolls and fried fish sandwiches. They also have daily specials like Miso Seared Salmon Rice Paper Wrap with Ginger/Wasabi Dressed Asian Greens, Radish and Sesame Shiitake Mushrooms and Crisp Smoked Cod and Chorizo Cake Sliders with Pickled Onions and Chipotle Mayo $6.25. So with the food truck frenzy in full force, the Rose Kennedy Greenway Conservancy planned the Greenway Mobile Food Festival for this coming weekend to showcase a dozen of Boston’s best food trucks. Unfortunately, it had to be postponed until the spring due to Occupy Boston currently occupying most of the Greenway.

Statement from the Rose Kennedy Greenway Conservancy From Executive Director Nancy Brennan October 12, 2011
- The Rose F. Kennedy Greenway Conservancy is announcing today that the Greenway Mobile Food Fest, which was planned for Saturday, October 15, has been postponed until the Spring. We will work with the participating vendors and collaborate with them on selecting a date for early 2012.
- Saturday’s event was to include 12 mobile food vendors, many of them in large trucks. It was to take place on Dewey Square, the only parcel large enough to accommodate this type of gathering.
- The decision is based on the fact the attendees we’re anticipating for the Greenway Mobile Food Fest, when combined with the Occupy Boston encampment on Dewey Square, would simply be too crowded to be considered safe for the public.
- Yesterday, activists complied with the smooth load-in and load-out of the Boston Public Market, a successful farmer’s market on Dewey Square, but the scale of Saturday’s event is much, much bigger. While this half acre of the Greenway is in full-time use by Occupy Boston, the remaining 15.5 acres of the Greenway remain open, beautiful and welcoming to all.
