Universal Hub is reporting that the owner of Burger King, located at 944 Bennington Street, would like to stay open 24 hours a day or, at the very least, a little bit later. He stated to the Licensing Board on Wednesday that for now, he would like to stay open until 2 am. Evidently, he’s been staying open until 2 am even though he is only supposed to close at 12 am. He also informed the board he had filed for a 24-hour permit if they wanted to give him that one instead of coming back at a later date.
The board responded that they would not offer a 24-hour operations permit without a full community process involving a meeting where residents give comments and concerns.
The Burger King currently closes at 10 pm for dine-in customers, and the later hours would be for drive-thru – the owner stated that demand has grown considerably for late-night food pick-ups through delivery apps, which currently account for 65% of the Bennington Street BK’s business after midnight.
