We realize it’s the sign of pandemic times, but it’s still sad to report. Three wildly popular spots in Kenmore Square have announced they have officially closed for good.

Boston Restaurant News reported on Wednesday, that Eastern Standard and its sister restaurant Island Creek Oyster Bar are transferring their liquor license to UrbanMeritage who owns the property where they reside. Later it was officially confirmed the two restaurants would not reopen.

Boston Restaurant News also reported on Thursday morning, the Hawthorne – a cocktail lounge inside the Commonwealth Hotel has also closed.

No word what will replace these three local hot spots.
