East Boston Italian Heritage Parade

Get ready, Eastie! The East Boston Italian Heritage Parade returns this weekend, bringing music, marching bands, antique cars, and plenty of neighborhood pride to the streets. The parade takes place Sunday, October 11th, stepping off from Suffolk Downs at 1pm. Before the main event, a parade of 30 antique cars will get things rolling at approximately 12:45pm. Organizers say this year’s parade will feature 18 marching bands, several divisions, and a large Shriners contingent with plenty for kids to see.  Learn more here.

Buddy’s Bagel’s is Back

Big news, bagel lovers! Buddy’s Bagels is back in action in Eastie! Orders are now open for this weekend, with pickup happening Saturday, October 10th at 10am in the Clippership Wharf Leasing Office lobby at 63 Lewis Street in East Boston. So, if you’ve been missing your Buddy’s Bagels fix, now is your chance. You can place orders through their brand-new website at thebuddysbagels.com.

DOODAH!

Looking for something a little different to check out in Eastie? Atlantic Works Gallery is welcoming DOODAH!, a new exhibit featuring artists Rick Dorff and Walter Kopec. DOODAH! will be on display from October 2 through October 24. The Opening Reception takes place Saturday, October 3 from 4–7pm, followed by a Third Thursday Reception on October 15 from 6–9pm. The exhibit explores a little bit of everything — wanderlust, excitement, trouble, gadgets, and plenty of unexpected ideas — all through the artists’ unique points of view. And the name? Boston Fire Aerial Drill Team Returns for Fire Prevention Week

One of Boston’s coolest Fire Prevention Week traditions is back! The Boston Fire Department Aerial Drill Team will be performing across the city this week, including three stops right here in Dot. Made up of Boston firefighters, the Aerial Drill Team performs impressive high-altitude rope and ladder maneuvers that showcase the skill, strength, teamwork, and trust required on the job. The tradition dates back decades and returned in 2024 after a roughly 20-year hiatus. The team will perform around Boston during the week:

  • Friday, October 9: TechBoston Academy, Dorchester — 9:45am
  • Friday, October 9: Ohrenberger Elementary, West Roxbury — 12:15pm
  • Saturday, October 10: Castle Island/Fort Independence — 11am
  • Sunday, October 11: Florian Hall for the Local 718 10K — 10:30am

Seaport Book Fair

Book lovers, this one’s for you! The Boston Seaport Book Fair is happening on Saturday, October 10th, from 12pm–5pm at Harbor Way, featuring nearly 40 authors, booksellers, and specialty vendors. Browse books from independent, traditionally published, and children’s authors, shop local vendors, and maybe find your next great read. The afternoon will also include an author conversation with Heidi McLaughlin and Emma Zeiger of Ghosted by Grief, plus a reading corner at The Rocks where you can settle in with your new book.
