A new public art installation, Inner Bloom, will be unveiled in East Boston on Monday.

Be a part of the unveiling of the new HarborArts public art installation by Matt Moyer Bell. This free public event celebrates the arrival of a new cultural landmark in East Boston, where art, architecture, and community continue to grow side by side.
This event takes place on Monday, September 29, 2025, at 10:00am at The Sara, 219 Saratoga Street, East Boston, MA 02128
The Art
Inner Bloom layers a painted mural with floating bronze camellia sculptures, bridging The Sara—a newly constructed condominium project—with its 19th-century brick neighbor. The work references Boston’s Victorian “Camellia Craze” of the 1800s, when the flowers filled conservatories across the city. Here, they are intentionally reintroduced as a metaphor for East Boston’s immigrant story—non-native plants that, with care, intention, and support, bloom together and endure. Together, the mural and sculptures were designed to complement the two buildings from very different eras while uniting them in a shared story of resilience across time.
The Speakers
We are honored to welcome State Representative Adrian Madaro and City Councilor Gabriela Coletta Zapata, both lifelong Eagle Hill residents, as guest speakers.
David Lank, Principal at Arch House Companies (art sponsor & developer of The Sara), and Jason Arndt, Principal at Zephyr Architects (designers of The Sara), will provide project context.
Finally, Matt Moyer Bell, artist behind Inner Bloom and Executive Director of HarborArts, will introduce the artwork.
From the Artist
“Inner Bloom is my first personal artwork after twelve years of creative silence,” says Matt Moyer Bell. “In that time, I had the privilege of producing projects with some of the world’s most extraordinary artists on a public stage in Boston. While it was an honor to elevate their voices, it also felt daunting to imagine my own belonging on that stage.”
“The camellia, which blossoms even in the cold, symbolizes resilience, renewal, and the quiet strength that lies within every person. Ultimately, the piece tells two stories that arrive at the same truth—that all individuals hold the potential to blossom when the conditions allow.”
The Sara Development Team
The piece was commissioned by Arch House Companies, developer of The Sara, the newly constructed condominium project designed by Zephyr Architects and built by Empire Builders in East Boston’s Eagle Hill. Condos at The Sara have just hit the market for sale (more information at www.LiveSara.com)
