On Monday, Mayor Michelle Wu will unveil Boston’s landmark 2030 Climate Action Plan alongside community and institutional partners at LoPresti Park in East Boston. The plan lays out a comprehensive roadmap for achieving the City’s carbon emissions reduction and climate resilience goals, including reducing community-wide greenhouse gas emissions by 50 percent by 2030 and reaching carbon neutrality by 2050. Hosted in partnership with Tree Eastie, a Climate Action Plan community partner, the event will include a ceremonial planting of 10 trees to improve East Boston’s tree canopy and strengthen the City’s resilience to extreme heat. This event will be live-streamed on boston.gov.

It’s Electric
The city of Boston recently signed a new five-year deal with Lyft that will bring some big improvements to the bikeshare system across Greater Boston. We’re talking hundreds of new electric bikes, additional docking stations (including the first-ever electric charging stations), and overall better availability—aka fewer frustrating moments of empty docks or nowhere to park. According to Mayor Michelle Wu, the rollout is already in motion, with the first 100 new e-bikes expected to hit the streets any day now. Also worth noting: Boston residents can get discounted annual Bluebikes memberships—so if you’ve been thinking about ditching the T or mixing up your commute, this might be your sign. Sign up here.
Coming Soon to the Neighborhood: Blackbird Doughnuts + Sally’s Sandwiches
Wildly popular Blackbird Doughnuts and Sally’s Sandwiches are planning to open a new spot at Clippership Wharf. Boston Restaurant Blog reports that the new location will combine both concepts—so think doughnuts, sandwiches, and coffee all in one place, plus maybe a little of the Gallow’s sprinkled in. According to a reel from Gallows Group founder Rebecca Roth Gullo, there will also be a “little sprinkling of The Gallows,” which was a gastropub in the South End that closed in 2021. This will be the eighth location for Blackbird Doughnuts and/or Sally’s Sandwiches. Other locations can be found in the South End, Beacon Hill, Fenway, Brighton, Harvard Square, Newton Center, and Watertown.
