Big news is taking root in East Boston—literally.

Tree Eastie, the grassroots nonprofit dedicated to greening our neighborhood one tree at a time, just received a $50,000 grant from GrowBoston, the city’s Office of Urban Agriculture. The grant will fund a brand-new fruit tree program launching this month and continuing through May 2026.  Planting is expected to happen in the fall.

The initiative aims to plant and care for fruit trees throughout Eastie while continuing Tree Eastie’s mission to educate residents on the importance of urban canopy, climate resilience, and food access.

Expect workshops, volunteer days, and numerous opportunities to get your hands dirty. The fruit tree program is the latest in Tree Eastie’s ongoing efforts to bring more green—and more good—to our corner of the city.
