An Eastie Story Inspired by True Events
It was a chilly Thursday morning in Boston,
And the city was waking up.
Cars zoomed along the roads,
Headlights glowed in the Ted Williams Tunnel,
And everyone was rushing to get where they were going.
But in the middle of all that hustle and bustle—
Trotting along as if he knew exactly what he was doing—
Was a little black-and-white dog.
Yes, a dog!
Right there in the tunnel!
He wasn’t scared.
He wasn’t lost.
He was just… on a mission.
Tail wagging, nose sniffing, paws clicking on the pavement.
Maybe he was heading to Southie to grab a a half-priced hot dog at Sully’s,
Cars slowed down, drivers blinked in disbelief.
“Is that a dog in the tunnel?” they said.
It sure was!
Luckily, some heroes were on their way.
The Massachusetts State Police swooped in,
Stopping the traffic and making sure everyone stayed safe.
One trooper knelt down low and said softly,
“Hey there, buddy… let’s get you out of here.”
The little dog tilted his head—
Maybe he’d had enough adventure for one day.
So, he wagged his tail, took a few careful steps,
And into the cruiser he went.
Everyone in the tunnel cheered.
Cars honked in celebration (happy honks, not traffic ones!),
And the little traveler was finally safe.
No one knows exactly where he came from,
Or what his big adventure was all about.
But one thing’s for sure —
That brave pup reminded Boston of something important:
Even in the busiest places,
There’s always room for a little wonder,
A little kindness,
And a story that makes us all smile.
