Tale of Two Eastie Restaurants and One Liquor License
We know that acquiring a liquor license in Boston is a challenge to say the least! So, when the Boston Licensing Board ordered a license revocation hearing for a Maverick Square restaurant, 154 Station, the liquor license could be going to another East Boston restaurant.
According to Universal Hub, the board voted to approve a full liquor license for the re-opened Italian Express located at 336 Sumner Street – subject to availability. Evidently, over 1000 people signed a petition supporting the owner of Italian Express to get a liquor license, including Senator Lydia Edwards. If the board decides to take away the license from 154 Station due to its failing business, it could go to Italian Express. If not, sadly, Italian Express will have to wait.
154 Station currently has a restricted neighborhood license, which basically means it has to stay in the neighborhood and can’t be resold. So we shall see.
