Oops! A mistake leads to 62 students not getting into BPS exam schools.

What a mess.

The Boston Globe is reporting that a clerical error resulted in 62 students not being accepted into the BPS exam schools.  The error also led to 67 other students getting into schools they weren’t qualified to be accepted into and an additional 90 being invited to a school that was not their top choice.

Evidently, the error occurred whenBPS staffers incorrectly converted results from two types of grading systems (A-F vs. 1-4) as part of the entrance process to figure out who can get into the exam schools.

BPS has rectified the situation by notifying the 62 students that were mistakenly denied acceptance that they in fact would have a seat in the fall.
