No Traditional High School Football Game on Thanksgiving between Southie and Eastie

Well, that’s disappointing.
For over 100 years, EastBoston High School and South Boston High School have gone head to head on Thanksgiving morning for the big game! Sadly, not this year.
According to an announcement made by the Headmaster of East Boston High, South Boston High, aka Excel High, notified him that they would be forfeiting.
“I am deeply saddened for our school, players, cheerleaders, coaches, and especially our seniors,” Brangiforte said. “We all know our annual East Boston High School vs South Boston High School Thanksgiving day game has been an important part of our school’s tradition for the past 105 years.”
Eastie decided instead to organize a scrimmage for Thursday morning.
Last year, East Boston won 48-0 over South Boston. Maybe that has something to do with it.
