Neighborhood rallies in support of man facing deportation for killing man who sexually abused him.

On Monday, family, friends, and neighbors came out to show support in Maverick Square for an immigrant from El Salvador who was recently released from prison after serving more than a decade for killing the man who sexually abused him as a child.

According to NBC10 Boston, the group is hoping to raise awareness to help Marc Flores, 30, who admitted to killing his abuser at the age of 17. Flores is currently in detention awaiting deportation, and supporters are hoping to change authorities’ minds and reconsider their decision.

Flores spent 13 years in prison after killing Jaime Galdamez, a family friend who Flores said sexually abused him for years. Flores pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter, which now makes him deportable.
