In the past 10 years, the landscape of South Boston has transformed right in front of our eyes. With new large scale developments like Washington Village and L Street Station on the horizon, the news that Gillette parent company Procter & Gamble is selling off 6.5 acres of the chunk of land it owns, should come as shock to no one. This parcel of land is located on a giant parking lot on A Street.
According to an article written by Jon Chesto in the Boston Globe, P&G has decided to be more of the 40 acres of land it owns after the successful sales of two smaller parcels. One section of land including a parking lot and two building went to General Electric. Last spring, P&G sold off a 10,000-square-foot lot at the end of Athens Street and a 30,000 square foot building and the lot next door off of A Street. Remember last June when developer bought Coppersmith and then the parcel right next door? Looks like lots of changes coming to that part of the neighborhood! Â

Nothing I like more than a massive surface lot turned into useful space, bravo!
I can think of a handful of smaller, privately owned lots in Southie that would fetch a good price. Hint hint, nudge nudge.
