Meet The Shovel Man of East Boston – Leading by Example.

One Jeffries Point resident is taking matters (and a shovel) into his own hands after the recent snowstorms left streets buried and neighbors battling for parking. Dubbed “The Shovel Man,” Sam McGillis has been heading out day after day to clear out curbside spots, not just for himself, but for anyone who needs them.
Instead of guarding freshly dug-out spaces, he’s been reclaiming them for the whole neighborhood, encouraging able-bodied neighbors to pitch in and help those who can’t shovel on their own. WBZ News Radio reports that he’s already cleared multiple spots around Jeffries Point and is hoping others will follow his lead, especially with icy snow piles still lingering weeks after the storm.
His message is simple: if you’re going to complain about the snow and the parking drama, grab a shovel and help out. With tensions high and space savers still popping up around Eastie, this local effort is a reminder that a little neighborly teamwork can go a long way toward keeping the streets (and the vibes) clear.
Way to go, Sam!
