Mary Ellen Welch Greenway Construction Begins This Week in East Boston.

The Greenway will be undergoing improvements in 2026 to address chronic flooding, improve lighting, upgrade site amenities, and add rain gardens and trees. The park will be under construction from March 2026 until approximately December 2026 and will be closed to the public between Marginal Street and Porter Street, including the crossing at Gove Street. You can learn more about this project here!
The site will be closed between Marginal Street and Porter Street beginning this week – expected to start between March 23rd and March 27th.
