One step closer to the Fortune 500 company General Electric headquarters becoming part of our community. On Monday, May 8th an official groundbreaking ceremony will take place in Fort Point and kickoff of the construction process which will last roughly 15-18months.
Plans include a brand new 12-story glass building complete with solar-panel canopy, vegetated green roofs and a two-story museum. There will also be a “vertical village” which will feature a glass enclosed work area where visitors and people walking by can sneak a peek at GE’s teams working and creating.
According to the Boston Globe, GE moved into temporary digs on Farnsworth Street last summer. The company will build a 390,000-square-foot, three-building campus off Necco Court near A Street.
So there you have it!
