Eastie Residents Invited to Weigh In on Maverick Square Improvements

Changes are coming to Maverick Square, and the City of Boston wants to hear from Eastie residents.

The Maverick Square Transportation Action Plan is looking at ways to make the busy square safer, more comfortable, and easier to navigate whether you’re walking, biking, driving, or taking public transportation. The project will also look at ways to improve the public spaces around Maverick Square and support the neighborhood’s businesses and community.

The City has already reviewed existing conditions, conducted a Road Safety Audit, and gathered feedback from residents and local stakeholders. The goal is to develop smaller, near-term improvements that could make a noticeable difference in the square.

Meanwhile, residents can also weigh in on proposed changes to the Bennington Street and Saratoga Street intersection at an in-person design workshop on Wednesday, September 30th at 6:30pm at the East Boston YMCA, 54 Ashley Street.

During the workshop, residents will break into small groups to discuss different design options for the intersection and share their priorities. Spanish interpretation will be available.

Eastie residents can learn more, check out the project’s interactive StoryMap, and provide feedback through the Maverick Square Transportation Action Plan.
