On Tuesday, March 4, 2025, Officers assigned to District A-7 (East Boston) arrested 32-year-old Maykel Pena Ramirez, of East Boston, on drug and motor vehicle charges following a traffic stop.
At approximately 5:02 PM, an Officer on patrol conducted a traffic stop near 450 McClellan Highway after discovering that the operator of a vehicle had a suspended driver’s license. The Officer approached the vehicle and identified the driver as Maykel Pena Ramirez, along with a passenger.
During the investigation, the Officer confirmed that Ramirez’s license was suspended and requested additional units for assistance. Once backup arrived, both Ramirez and his passenger were removed from the vehicle as Officers continued their inquiry. A subsequent search of the vehicle led to the discovery of 12 plastic bags containing a tan powdery substance, believed to be fentanyl, weighing approximately 13.6 grams.
Ramirez was placed under arrest and is expected to be arraigned in East Boston District Court on the following charges:
- Trafficking Fentanyl (Over 10 Grams)
- Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended License
