BPD Arrest Man In Possession of an AK-47 Rifle in South Boston

From BPD News:
At about 3:30 PM on Friday, July 30, 2021, officers assigned to the District C-6 Drug Control Unit (South Boston), made an onsite firearm arrest of Luis Thistle, 53, of Dorchester in the area of W 3rd Street and F Street in South Boston.
While patrolling the area, officers observed the passenger of a motor vehicle complete what they believed to be a drug transaction. When the motor vehicle pulled onto Dorchester Avenue, officers activated their emergency lights and sirens to conduct the traffic stop.

Officers made contact with the occupants of the vehicle and after a CJIS inquiry, it was revealed that Thistle had an active warrant out of Lee County Fort Myers Florida for Burglary and Larceny.
As officers placed Thistle under arrest for the outstanding warrant, they recovered $2500.00 USC from his pocket and an AK -47 Rifle from a duffle bag located inside of the vehicle.
Luis Thistle was additionally charged with; Possession of a Sawed-Off Shotgun or a Machine Gun. He is expected to be arraigned in South Boston District Court.
