At about 5:30 PM, on Monday, September 16, 2024, officers assigned to District A-7 (East Boston) arrested Antonio El Urdaneca, 27, of East Boston, on Larceny charges.

Officers were conducting a walk and talk in the area of 216 Border Street when they were approached for a larceny theft from a building. The officers were advised that an Uber Eats delivery driver entered the restaurant at 145 Meridian Street and stole a phone while picking up food. Officers were provided with video surveillance of the suspect and his moped.

Officers began to canvass the area and stopped the suspect in the area of 227 Border Street. After further investigation, officers determined that the moped was not registered and that the suspect did not have an active license. Officers conducted an inquiry of the moped which revealed that it was reported stolen. Officers were also able to recover the stolen cell phone and return it to the victim.

El Urdaneca was placed under arrest and charged with Larceny over $1,200, Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Uninsured Motor Vehicle, Unregistered Motor Vehicle, and Receiving Stolen Property. He is expected to be arraigned in East Boston District Court.
