Beach Bummer: Constitution Beach Closed Due to Bacteria Concerns

If you were planning to head to Constitution Beach today to cool off—heads up: it’s a no-go for swimming.
More than a dozen beaches statewide have been closed to swimmers due to high levels of bacteria in the water, as of 8 a.m. Friday morning, 15 beaches were marked off-limits—including Constitution Beach right here in East Boston.
These types of closures typically follow heavy rains or water runoff that can impact water quality. While frustrating, the temporary shutdowns are all about keeping swimmers safe from potential illness.
So, while you can still enjoy the views, a walk along the sand, or some sunbathing, swimming is off the table for now at Eastie’s go-to beach. No word yet on when it will reopen, but we’ll be keeping an eye on it and will post updates as they come in.
