2-Alarm Fire on Prescott Street in East Boston on Thursday

According to the Citizens app, BFD was called to the area of 260 Bennington Street in East Boston for a fire on Thursday around 4:40pm. Upon arrival, a building at 74 Prescott Street was found fully engulfed in flames and is believed to have originated on the third floor. The fire spread to the lower floors and the basement.
Cause of fire may have been an explosion. 2nd alarm was ordered.
All occupants of the building have been evacuated. This is an active scene. Twenty people, two cats, and a bird have been displaced. Damages to the property are estimated upward of $200,000.
