In a disturbing incident near East Boston High School, a 14-year-old has been ordered held without bail after allegedly stabbing another teen girl, according to prosecutors. The attack happened last month, and a second suspect is expected to be arraigned soon.

The teen, who lives in East Boston, faces serious charges including assault to murder and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. A judge ruled that the teen will remain in custody until a dangerousness hearing scheduled for Monday in Chelsea Juvenile Court.

Due to their age, the suspect’s name has not been released. Prosecutors said the victim knew both attackers and identified one as the person who stabbed her. Investigators also used cellphone and surveillance footage to identify the juveniles involved, according to Suffolk County District Attorney Kevin Hayden.

Boston police were called to Falcon Street—just behind East Boston High School—around 2 p.m. on September 24 after reports of a stabbing. Prosecutors say the 14-year-old victim suffered multiple stab wounds to her head, legs, and back, one of which punctured her lung.

“This assault, beyond the injuries and fear and trauma it inflicted upon the victim, hurt us all,” said Suffolk County District Attorney Kevin Hayden. “When young lives are impacted by violence like this, it’s a tragedy for families, neighborhoods, schools, and the community as a whole. I wish this victim a full and complete recovery.”

According to the DA’s office, the teen told police she was walking home on Putnam Street after school when she noticed two other teens following her. She called her sister, saying she thought she might get “jumped,” just moments before the alleged attack took place.

According to prosecutors, the victim saw one of the teens pull out what looked like a folding knife, slip it into her pocket, and start walking the other way. When the victim said she’d call the police, the juvenile reportedly grabbed a cellphone from the ground and threw it at her.

The victim didn’t realize right away that she’d been stabbed. As she walked home, she noticed blood running down her body, the DA’s office said. Classmates helped her apply pressure to her wounds, and school staff provided care on Falcon Street until police arrived and used tourniquets to stop the bleeding.

Investigators say the two teens have a history of conflict — their first fight reportedly happened two years ago over a pair of broken glasses. Since then, the victim told police, the suspect has tried to start fights whenever they crossed paths.

Videos of the attack later spread online, allegedly showing both juveniles hitting and holding down the victim. Prosecutors say the 14-year-old now facing charges can be seen making “striking motions” toward the same areas where the victim was stabbed.
