Live Bird Banding at Belle Isle Marsh This Week

Early birds, this one’s for you 🐦
Head over to Belle Isle Marsh Reservation this week for a cool opportunity to see bird migration research up close.
From April 20th through April 24th, Mass DCR Stewardship Research Biologist Sean Riley will be on-site at the marsh’s Research and Education Center (aka the red shed), hosting live bird banding sessions from 7am to 12pm (weather permitting).
Visitors can stop by anytime during those hours to watch the process in action—think weighing, measuring, and identifying each bird’s age and gender—while learning how this work helps support conservation efforts.
No registration needed and all ages are welcome. Just a heads up: leave your pets at home.
