Coming Soon to the Neighborhood: La Tavernetta

Sunshine, spritz, oysters, and an ocean view.
East Boston’s dining scene is expanding this spring. La Tavernetta by Mida will be opening at Clippership Wharf!
The concept originates from award-winning chef Douglas Williams, the driving force behind MIDA’s expanding group of Italian restaurants. The proposed spot would feature a main dining room, a bar area, and a seasonal patio overlooking the water—offering prime scenic views.
If Williams’ track record is any indication, Eastie is in for something special. Named one of Food & Wine’s Best New Chefs and a multiple-time James Beard Award semi-finalist, Williams has already made a name with MIDA locations in the South End, Fenway, Newton, and yes—right here in Eastie.
The opening of this new restaurant was not without some hurdles. Members of the Maverick Central Neighborhood Association wrote a letter of opposition to the city’s licensing board, but it appears La Tavernetta was approved.
