Old School Southie: Aces High

Dirty Old Boston posted this gem on Instagram over the weekend. Judging by the clothing and backdrop, we’d guess South Boston circa 1973.
Just a casual shoulder ride in Andrew Square past Aces High on Dot Ave. It would not be out of the question if the duo in the photo just enjoyed a “fine sandwich” inside the bar before this picture was snapped.
Schlitz Beer was THE beer of the 1970’s in Southie – followed by Knickerbocker.
Editor’s Note: During the mid 1970’s, my family would leave Santa Claus a Schlitz Beer and some cashews instead of the traditional milk + cookies.
