Original Post:

The Boston Fire Department is actively working on a 6-alarm fire in East Boston.  Around 5am, BFD responded to a call on Meridian Street to a multi-family building with heavy fire showing.  The fire quickly traveled to the building next door and the building in the rear.  A sixth alarm was called.  Firefighters were ordered out of the building but are still fighting the fire from outside and in the adjacent buildings.

BPD is on the scene redirecting traffic. Expect delays in that area.

This is still an active scene.  More to follow.
