Free Boating Safety & Learn to Kayak
From Friday, July 24th through Sunday, July 26th, 10am-4:30pm, head to Constitution Beach (East Boston, MA 02128) for free kayaking and boating safety lessons hosted by the Neighborhood of Affordable Housing (NOAH). No cost, but you’ll need to email [email protected] and [email protected] to schedule your lesson.
Live Mariachi at La Hacienda
Stop by La Hacienda’s beautiful patio on Friday night for live mariachi music, paired with delicious homestyle El Salvadoran and Mexican food. Open until 2am every day, it’s a great late-night hang whether you’re grabbing dinner or just stopping in for drinks. 150 Meridian St, Boston, MA 02128.
Salsa, Wine & Cheese at La Cocina de VROCC
Cap off Friday night with Salsa, Wine, and Cheese, hosted by the Veronica Robles Cultural Center at their newest home, La Cocina de VROCC (389 Maverick Street), from 7-9pm. Free and open to everyone, it’s a festive way to celebrate the neighborhood’s Latin culture.
Earlier that afternoon (4:30-6:30pm), catch VROCC’s Musical Float parading through the streets from 282 Meridian Street to La Cocina de VROCC.
Zumba at the East Boston YMCA
Get moving Saturday, July 25th from 11:30am-12:30pm with a free Zumba class at the East Boston YMCA (215 Bremen Street), blending Latin and international music with easy-to-follow dance moves. All levels welcome.
East Boston: In Our Own Words Zine Launch
Stop by the East Boston Branch Library (365 Bremen St.) on Saturday, July 25th from 1-3pm to celebrate the launch of East Boston: In Our Own Words, Hola Cultura’s new community zine spotlighting local voices and stories. Free to attend.
Saratoga Market
Need a treat while you’re out in Eastie? Swing by Saratoga Market (16 Trident St, East Boston, MA 02128), a cute neighborhood spot serving up Richardson’s ice cream, Colombian coffee, and desserts from Bindi. Open daily (8am-9pm Monday-Saturday, 8am-8pm Sunday), it’s a great low-key stop for a scoop or an iced coffee on your way through the neighborhood.
Christmas in July: Deck the Hulls
Get into the holiday spirit a few months early with Deck the Hulls, Boston’s premier holiday boat parade, taking over Boston Harbor on Saturday, July 25th from 8-10pm. Watch decorated boats parade from the Mystic River Channel past the Charlestown Waterfront, USS Constitution, Rowes Wharf, and the Seaport, finishing at Commonwealth Pier. The Bean & Barter Market
On Sunday, July 26th from 1-5pm, Constitution Beach (East Boston, MA 02128) hosts the Bean & Barter Market, a free barter market focused on the environment, sustainability, and climate justice.
Visit the ICA Watershed
Make a day of it with a trip to the ICA Watershed (256 Marginal St, East Boston, MA 02128). Admission is always free for everyone. Current students at Boston colleges get free general admission to the main ICA in the Seaport. The water shuttle across the harbor comes free with ICA admission, but be sure to pre-register your ticket!
