Loud Wake-Up Call in Eastie After Early Morning Federal Raid with Percussion Grenades
Things got loud—really loud—on one East Boston street early this week.
According to Universal Hub, residents on Lubec Street were jolted awake around 6 a.m. Tuesday as federal agents carried out a raid near the corner of Porter Street. During the operation, agents reportedly used multiple percussion grenades—devices designed to create loud bangs and disorient—leaving neighbors shaken and confused.
Neighbors say the explosions were intense enough to rattle windows and send people scrambling to figure out what was happening. Some initially thought it might be construction or something even more serious before learning it was tied to a Department of Homeland Security operation.
The early-morning activity also reportedly caused damage, including broken windows, and left residents describing the experience as unsettling and chaotic.
No additional details about the target of the raid have been released, but for those living nearby, it was definitely not your typical Tuesday morning in Eastie.
