Drug Bust in East Boston Tied to Packages Sent Through the Mail

An East Boston resident is facing charges after a major drug trafficking investigation uncovered narcotics being shipped through the mail into the neighborhood.

According to the Boston Globe, the case centers on a months-long investigation that tracked packages allegedly sent from Puerto Rico to Boston through the U.S. Postal Service. Authorities say the probe led to the seizure of more than $1 million worth of fentanyl and cocaine, along with a firearm and ammunition.

Police say the investigation involved coordinated surveillance and search warrants at multiple locations in East Boston. Officials allege the drugs were intended for distribution in the area, and one person has been arrested in connection with the case.

Anny Perdomo-Santana, 35, was arrested on charges including trafficking in fentanyl and cocaine, unlawful possession of a large-capacity firearm, possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and improper storage of a firearm near a minor

The bust highlights ongoing concerns about drug trafficking networks using shipping services to move narcotics into Boston neighborhoods. The investigation remains active, and additional court proceedings are expected.
