After 48 years as Eastie High swim coach, Dave Arinella says goodbye!

Let’s hear it for Coach Dave Arinella on his retirement from East Boston High School!
According to the Boston Herald, Arinella holds the longest tenure in Boston Public Schools coaching history with 295 career wins – one of the wins being his final meet Tuesday night with the Eastie Jets beating Arlington Catholic, 49-44. The meet closed out with a special ceremony for Arinella, with 41 former swim team captains showing up to pay their respects to the beloved coach.
Arinella told the Herald, “Forty-one captains came back here today, that’s the thrill of my life. … (And the win), that’s frosting.”

Academic Credentials:
1970 Student Athlete Graduate of East Boston High School. Valedictorian. 1974 graduate of Brandeis University, Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology, Sociology and Romance Languages. Minor in Physical Educ.
Career Highlights:
30-year career for the Trial Courts of the Commonwealth. Former Chief Probation Officer at East Boston Court. I have been coaching swimming at Eastie since 1976. 1976 to 1979 Asst Head Coach. 1980-present Head Coach. BPS Athletics told me that I am the longest-tenured coach in BPS.
